You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Today\u00a0our IT team\u00a0received a software setup from one of our client. When we tried to open the same software setup, we got a error message &#8211; &#8220;<span style=\"color: #800000;\"><em>Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item<\/em><\/span>&#8220;. We tried repeatedly to double click the file to open it, but it fails. We also tried renaming the filename, but still it gives same error message.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.securasecurity.org\/services\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/windows-cannot-access-error2.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-354 aligncenter\" title=\"windows cannot access error\" src=\"https:\/\/www.securasecurity.org\/services\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/windows-cannot-access-error2.gif\" alt=\"Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item\" width=\"549\" height=\"111\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong><!--more-->Solution<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>After few minutes of investigation, our IT team came up with the required solution for the error message we are facing. Here are steps listed to overcome avobe error.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Right Click<\/span> software setup and select <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Properties<\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>In <span style=\"color: #800000;\">Properties<\/span> screen you will see a button named &#8220;<span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Unblock<\/strong><\/span>&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.securasecurity.org\/services\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/properties.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-355 aligncenter\" title=\"properties\" src=\"https:\/\/www.securasecurity.org\/services\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/properties.gif\" alt=\"properties\" width=\"367\" height=\"247\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.securasecurity.org\/services\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/properties.gif 367w, https:\/\/www.securasecurity.org\/services\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/properties-300x201.gif 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 367px) 100vw, 367px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Click on <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Unblock<\/strong><\/span> button and then Click <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Apply<\/strong><\/span> and <strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">OK<\/span><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>And now try to open or run the software setup.
